![]() ![]() ![]() Midtown direct trains on the Morris-Essex line arriving after 7 a.m. NJ Transit executive director Steven Santoro said in a letter on the company's website that "this will not be an ordinary summer of travel" before pointing out that commuters along the Morris & Essex Lines will see new travel patterns "which will extend their day." The work was ordered after recent derailments and numerous other delays. The summer repairs are expected to close three of the station's 21 tracks at a time for approximately seven weeks. Hardest hit will be the morning commuters on the Morris-Essex commuter line, who will be diverted to ferry service or PATH to cross the Hudson River. The new service plan will have an effect on weekday train schedules from July 10 through Sept. 1. That information is now available as NJ Transit announced its summer schedule.
